Hello from Gary. It’s another gorgeous day here in California. Hopefully it’s gorgeous for you wherever you’re at.
Well it’s only a couple more days to Mother’s Day celebrations. That’s true at least for many Western countries. But it’s not true for people in Russia, Ukraine or other Russian countries. The big day of celebration for women in these countries is March 8 on Women’s Day.
And generally speaking Russian women are not aware of Mother’s Day as we celebrate it in America unless of course she is in America, in which case I guarantee she’s aware of it and looking forward to it.
So if you are with a Russian woman in America, remember to gift and celebrate her on Mother’s Day even though you just recently gifted and celebrated her on March 8 for Women’s Day.
And here’s an idea for you if your Russian women is still in a Russian country. Explain to her about Mother’s Day in America. Don’t try to tell her it’s a replacement for Women’s Day because that won’t fly. That particular day is very deeply ingrained in the psyche of Russian women. No, explain Mother’s Day as an additional day for her to be honored and celebrated when she comes to America.Â
Are you stuck for Mother’s Day gift ideas? Here’s an interesting “factoid”. According to Wikipedia, the National Restaurant Association reports that “Mother’s Day is now the most popular day of the year to dine out at a restaurant in the United States”. So there you have it. Give her an evening off from the kitchen. Let someone else do the cooking and cleaning. But a word to the wise - - if you’re going to gift her with dinner out, make reservations early!! Or, if, and only if, you know how to cook, then take over the kitchen duties for her. Just make sure your gift includes doing the cleanup too.
Now if your Russian woman is not yet with you in America, you’ll have a problem doing the dinner gift. So I suggest you check our “Gifts For Her” page. It may be too late to order for Mother’s Day delivery, but an order from Novica or zChocolate may still make it close to on time. That’s especially true for chocolate from zChocolate.com since they ship from France. And seriously, they do have the best chocolate in the world.Â
Or perhaps you’re lucky and have a woman that lets you know early what she would most appreciate for a Mother’s Day gift. That’s my situation with Alla. You could not guess in a thousand years what she has asked me for. I’ll tell you, complete with photos when it arrives - - probably in about 3 weeks. For now I’ll only hint that, true to form for a Russian woman, she has asked me for something very practical and useful.
So, I close for now. Until I join you again, may life gift you and yours with all the best.
Gary.

This is such a fantastic blog! I have enjoyed reading all of your posts. I have been doing a study for school over the last few months about People, what they do, etc. Everything from the type of clothing jewelry and electronics they buy to where they eat, who they date and where they vacation. I was reading books and using the resources I have at school, but the most incredible information I have found is searching through blogs! Thank you for sharing your great information! I am going to save this URL to my favorites and come back often so I can keep up!This is such a fantastic blog! I have enjoyed reading all of your posts. Carolyn:
I refer you to our links page. There are some informative sites listed there. Beyond that I can’t help you much without knowing more about what specifically you are looking to learn about.
Thanks for your compliments and your visit.
Gary.
Astonishing article . Will definitely copy it to my blog. Thanks
Hello Updo;
Glad you liked the article. However, I visited your site and try as I may, I could not find that you had in fact copied my post to your site. I’m disappointed. And so is my lawyer. He has lots of kids and Harvard tuition payments are big and they are due soon. Get my drift? Check out my copyright notice at the “About us” page. The part about Siberia is obviously a gest. But the part about being broke is deadly serious.
But it’s all about “link juice” and traffic anyway, right. O.K., I’m a good sport - - some for you and some for me. Thanks and you’re welcome. Gary.
p.s. You have a cool site.
In case you had been a mum on mothers day would you rather have flowers or chocolates
Hi Mariah:
Easy question.
First flowers, then dinner, THEN chocolates.
Care to respond? What’s your choice(s).
